Home garage used only as a car parking place does not meet our expectations any more. It is more and more frequently used in the function of auxiliary utility premises, a workshop or, typically, a place to store our sports equipment or gardening tools.
Therefore, if the garage is to be used for other purposes than only a safe place to park our car, it is recommended to design the space optimally with respect to the lighting requirements, auxiliary equipment and easy access to the premises.
In modern garages the last function becomes especially significant, i.e. the easy access to the premises. In this context, the garage door as the only entrance to the garage obviously meets the requirements; however, its use for other purposes than a car drive is tiresome and can be problematic, especially when you do not have an automatic door drive. An excellent solution to this problem is equipping the garage building with side panel garage doors.
Therefore, while deciding on the installation of the sectional garage door in our garage and considering the purchase of the side door at the same time, it is worth choosing the same panels for both side and garage doors. The solutions shall make the garage building façade look uniform and elegant.
The panels used in the side doors have a considerable impact on their appearance and insulation. DK-PROF offers panels of 40 mm width, filled with polyurethane foam and covered with galvanised steel sheets of 0.5 mm width. The panels are characterised by a very good heat transfer coefficient – U = 0.54 W/m2K.

Michał Popardowski, Product Development Manager in DK-PROF, points also to significant factors determining the thermal properties of the product: “Thermal properties of side doors are largely conditioned by aluminium profiles that form the structure of the side garage door leaf frame. In our company we manufacture panel doors with frames made of aluminium profiles of up to 60 mm depth. Such profiles are equipped with so-called thermal break that increases the insulation parameters of the entire structure”.

Side garage doors are available in a wide range of colours and veneers, also wood-imitating ones, which, in combination of four panel designs, gives lots of mix and match possibilities to create the final appearance of the door.

While buying the side garage door please check our standard offer of door handles, hinges and locks. Remember that those elements have a crucial impact on the reliable door operation. Handles, apart from obvious decorative functions, have to be durable and reliable.
It is worth to ask a sales assistant about the number of planes the hinges can adjusted as well as about their load capacity. We recommend the hinges that can be adjusted in three planes, which makes the perfect adjustment to the door framework possible, increasing at the same time its impermeability.
